🌟 Jane’s Journey: From Child Laborer to Student Leader
At just 12 years old, Jane was working long hours in neighboring towns to help support her family—missing school and sacrificing her dreams. When Build Kisoro Foundation stepped in through our Educate a Child 2025 Challenge, everything changed.
With school fees, supplies, and mentorship covered, Jane returned to the classroom. Today, she’s not just a student—she’s a role model, leading her peers in academics and helping younger children stay in school too.

Imagine 150000 ug shillings ( approx $40 ) a term you can keep a child in school with books, pens, shoes, bags, food, mentorship among others, every single coin can make a difference. I call upon donors, volunteers, advocates, partners as well as fellow students in high institutions of learning to take action and spread awareness since you can witness what I’m talking about, you have seen your fellows in class face these challenges therefore the more you ignore this is the more victims keep increasing.
I remember in my secondary-education we used to miss exams, miss lunch and sometimes chased out of class, it’s painful. In my primary, I remember going to school with one book and one pen for 4 subjects, walk very early in the morning bare-footed on empty stomach, travel long distance morning and evening yet on reaching home you find heavy work waiting for you, torture among others. I passed through a lot and I know how painful it is and that is why I call upon you to join us in ending this.
The fact is that whoever studied from or visited a local school knows about this and we can end it together, just give in your coin, volunteer, spread awareness, support our empowerment programs as we give quality education to our children. Supporting us and donating is not only for the rich, it’s for all of us, any single coin counts a lot on the welfare of a vulnerable child.
